Washingtonpost.com debuts high definition podcasts

Media Life Magazine reports that Washingtonpost.com is producing the first podcasts in high-definition, designed to be viewed on HDTVs or computer screens. Media Life reports:

They will be downloadable from iTunes or washingtonpost.com. In what washingtonpost.com claims is a first for a news organization, these high-definition podcasts will also be available in the highest spec possible for the new Apple TV. The goal, explained washingtonpost.com managing editor Tom Kennedy, was to fulfill the consumers’ desire for HD content and to help them move away from watching videos on a small box on their computer screen. It’s one of a number of new things newspapers have been trying recently to monetize their sites.
