Audio recorder recommendations

For your work in class, you will likely find it helpful to have your own digital audio recorder. A model like the Olympus WS-200S, available for under $100 delivered from Amazon.com, will be sufficient. But if you have some extra cash and want to produce professional-quality audio clips, you should look into the flash-memory recorders that have just come to market. The New York Times recently did a nice roundup of three of them, with retail prices between $350 and $500. Because they have no moving parts, they make quiet recordings of the highest quality.
